Hunting

North Bay / Sacramento

Napa County’s Knoxville Recreation Area is the closest best hunting in the Bay Area. It is located in Napa, Yolo, Colusa, and Lake counties. Here you may hunt for the following should you find one: deer, wild turkey, quail, rabbit, gray squirrel, dove, pigeon, and bear. License may be required. Waterfowl hunting is $1.34 per hunt choice for the drawing. However big game hunting is $61.82 for a California resident ($216 for nonresidents, $16.20 for youth) for the license. To hunt a bear for example requires a bear tag that will cost an additional $60.22 for residents and a sum of $381.30 or nonresidents. This information is from the hunting directory at the Fish and Wildlife Department which we checked on March 27th, 2025. Consult there for details on other game such as pronghorn, small mammals, deer, elk, sheep, pig, waterfowl, upland birds or non-game furbearers, some of which can be found in other areas around the state featuring many other places to hunt.
